Volunteer Wanted

Is paperwork your passion? Do you enjoy spending long hours performing tedious tasks with recordings and documents? Do you like working in a situation where you legally cannot tell people about the contents of said documents? All without pay?

Well, have I got the position for you! I need help proofreading and formatting interview transcripts. To-date, there have been 23 people interviewed, resulting in over 43 hours of footage.

I’ve used two different voice-recognition transcription methods, resulting in initial transcripts that, while workable, have a lot of spelling and formatting errors, and some weird AI hallucinations thrown in for good measure.

I have a line item in the budget to hire someone to do this work, but given the lackluster pace of crowdfunding, I don’t think that’s going to happen any time soon. I can do them myself, eventually, but that would mean delaying working on the filming and editing portions of the production.

The volunteer would have to sign an NDA (non-disclosure agreement), as some things which are said in interviews are private, off-topic, and sometimes very personal, and are not going to wind up in the movie. (This part is serious – no leaks/gossip allowed.)

In exchange, I can give the heroic volunteer “Associate Producer” credit in the film and on the IMDB. Plus, you get to learn of some of the fun revelations that will eventually wind up in the film, long before everyone else.

I know I’m asking a huge amount, and can’t be picky, but you should also have had some experience working with transcriptions and private documents before (a paralegal or notary, for example), and you shouldn’t have close ties to the theatre organ world or the Organ Grinder people in particular, to avoid any conflicts (or social stress).

Given some preliminary tests, I estimate that it takes 2-3 hours per hour of footage, which would mean 80 to 120 hours of work in total for what’s been filmed so far. (Basically catching up on an entire year of filmed interviews.)

Still interested after reading all that? Your masochistic tendencies will be rewarded.

Update – There is already a person who has come forward as a potential volunteer. The offer of screen credit still stands for additional volunteers – we can divide up the workload and make it an easier task for everyone.
